Our Story
Hi, I’m Ben, owner of The Pickup Partner.
The idea for my business came to me after I left a job in home construction back in 2015. While I was figuring out what kind of work I really wanted to do, I decided it was time to buy a pickup truck of my own, and that got me thinking about all its work capabilities. I landed on the idea of offering a service like Uber, but using pickup trucks to move things, rather than people, from A to B.
It turned out there weren’t any local, affordable options for folks who needed “a guy with a truck” to help with small moves or to pick up, deliver, or dispose of stuff. So, I decided to be that guy. I started small, reaching out on Facebook and visiting local stores to offer my services. Eventually Big Lots in Portsmouth said they'd like to use me as a quicker, more reasonably priced, local delivery guy. As word spread around town I gained more customers, both businesses and homeowners.
As The Pickup Partner has grown my team has expanded, but our mission hasn’t changed. We're here to be your local, affordable go-to when you need moving, transport, or junk removal assistance – a friend with a truck you can count on.
